This collection compiles the various fragments, variations and traces of my ‘Woven Histories, A Duet of Present and Past’ project, a performance in two parts: the first, a violin solo piece that begins and ends on the same note (the elongating shadow of trauma); the second, a re-iteration of the same piece with the first performance transmuted into the ghosts which confront and challenge the present moment, the endless cycle of confrontation and reiteration.

This piece is “Live Performance Pt. 2: Violin Solo and Ghosts” featuring Anna Kostyuchek (violin) and DiipSilence (electronic manipulation and performance of ghosts) and here presents a double exposure through the recorded medium: the ghosts of Pt.1 here performed on top of/beneath the exact recording of Pt.1 itself, unlike the ‘real’ performance in the gallery; loop upon loop, digital realism.

The performances were recorded live at Reisig and Taylor Contemporary on July 8, 2023 in front of my triptych ‘Three Elegies’ as part of my solo exhibition ‘Dandelye—or, Beneath this River’s Tempo’d Time We Walk’ and includes a brief performance talk by Anna, joined by DiipSilence and myself.

The album was recorded by my good friend and Grammy Award-nominated mastering engineer Gerhard Westphalen.
